Happy Norway Day!

Good morning from Norway, and Happy Constitution Day! I have to say; it is nice to be back.

After a month in the desert heat, the temperatures are a welcome change, especially considering my limited wardrobe. However, I can already feel my wallet starting to hurt, but that’s Norway for you. Anyway, I arrived in Oslo just in time for the most significant holiday in Norway, Constitution Day.

I have to admit; it’s still odd seeing so much red, white, and blue outside of the US. Even in Russia, it felt so strange to me. Sharing is caring, I guess.

Instead of fireworks and barbecues, the Norwegians celebrate their national day with more class. It’s widespread for women to wear traditional clothing representing their village and for the men to wear a suit or formal dress. In the morning, the King and Queen speak from the palace and spend some time mingling with their subjects. Like America, there are parades. However, as you can imagine, the Norwegians do indulge in consuming copious amounts of alcohol. Everyone goes out into the streets, celebrates the day, and has a beautiful time. I am very thankful that I witnessed this day, especially since the weather was gorgeous.

Now, for some personal updates. I am planning my next travel moves and will keep you all posted. The job hunt in the EU is ongoing. However, I did submit an assignment for a job. Fingers crossed, I hope to get an interview. I am still unsure about returning to Russia, but I cannot make that decision yet.
