Returning to Oslo

Hey! This one is going to be a bit short. Sorry!

After 26 days in the desert heat, I am excited to be returning to the 60°F/15°C weather in Oslo. What can I say? I grew up in New England and have lived in Moscow for the last two years. Fair to say I’m a northerner.

Speaking of Moscow, I have a heavy decision to make. I have to decide if I will be continuing my work in Moscow for another school year or if I will be moving on. For many of those outside, I would assume the obvious answer is getting into Moscow, grabbing my stuff, and running to the EU or back to the US. I cannot blame anyone for that recommendation. After all, not being able to easily travel from Moscow to the West or internationally bank easily from Russia makes more sense. However, at the same time, I have made Moscow my home. I have a fantastic apartment (with a great landlord), my own (massive) social circle, and the many children that I teach English to (nearly every single day). Some of my fondest memories happened in Russia.

As you can see, this decision is not easy. I have no idea what I should do to cut to the chase. If anyone in the EU wants to hire me (especially as a copywriter or copyeditor), it will make the decision easier for me (IMHO). However, I was able to make some decisions. By Friday afternoon, I will be back in Oslo. After getting some things sorted in Oslo, I am unsure where I will head next. One thing, though, is sure: I will be spending my birthday in Berlin (May 26th). Please do not ask me why, but Berlin has been a place that I feel that I am being pulled towards.

After Berlin, who knows where I will end up. For my Russian friends, I do plan to make a return soon before my visa expires (June 30th).

Stay frosty.
